| HISTORY
In 1994, a new ship - the M/V Le Draveur - was added to the cruise ship company. François Harvey, Captain Harvey's eldest son, became the captain of this low-draught catamaran-type ship. Its design allows the vessel to be innovative in the cruises offered, an example being its ability to sail beyond the mouth of the Saint-Maurice River. During the summer of 2000, the ship was equipped with a glass structure to cover the upper deck to improve passenger comfort in any weather. Major renovations were made in 2008 with the ship being lengthened by more than three metres at the stern. This extension permitted the creation of extensive outdoor seating areas on each of the rear decks. The ship is now more spacious and its capacity has been increased to 175 passengers. Over time, the M/V Le Draveur has come to offer new cruise destinations such as Lake Saint-Pierre, the Sorel Islands (including a tour of the archipelago) and cruises to Champlain and Batiscan. The company has undertaken various environmentally-friendly measures, including the installation of systems to reduce and recover waste water aboard the M/V Le Draveur. Also, investments are under way to eliminate disposable tableware in the meal services. Today the cruise ship company is still owned by the Harveys, captains from father to sons. During the peak season, the company hires over 40 employees, including navigation officers, crew members and ticket agents. |
